What to Do When Heavy Rain Is Forecast
Make preparations according to the following alert, or danger, levels 1–5:

Level 1: The weather will get worse.
 Check weather information on TV, etc. and the degree of danger as shown on the hazard map.
Level 2: The weather will get even worser.
 Consider when to evacuate (escape) and begin preparing for evacuation.
Level 3: Elderly people and pregnant women should evacuate from danger spots.
Level 4: Everyone should evacuate from danger spots.
■Levels 3 and 4: High risk of disaster
 Check the hazard map, etc. and
protect yourself in your own home.
 Evacuate to a friend’s or relative’s
home or an evacuation shelter.
Level 5: Disaster occurs; life-threatening danger
 Protect yourself immediately.

Submission of Current Status Reports for Child and Child-Raising Allowances

Forms required for current status reports will be sent to all those persons receiving child or child-raising allowances as of June 1 who need to submit such reports. By Friday, June 30, please either take this form in person to the Child-Raising Support Section (2F, Tanashi 2nd Bldg.), the Civil Affairs Section (1F, Hoya General Health and Welfare Center), or a city office branch, or post to the Child-Raising Support Section at the city hall (〒188-8666). Child-allowance applications can be made online.

Temporary Infant Day Care Begins on Monday, July 3

Eligibility: Infants aged from three months to under one year who live in Nishitokyo City and are not attending a certified day-care center, etc.
Day-care days/time: Monday – Friday (Closed on New Year’s and national holidays); 09:30–12:00 and 13:30–16:30
Day-care places: Mukodai, Higashi, Sumiyoshi, Nakamachi, and Keyaki nursery schools
Fee: 1,200 yen (No meals, snacks, etc. are provided.)
User registration: People wishing to use this service can register at the Kindergarten and Nursery Section (2F, Tanashi 2nd Bldg.) from Thursday, June 1.

Enjoy New Sports

Anyone can immediately enjoy playing such new sports as unicurl and boccia.

Eligibility: People above elementary school
age who live, work, or study in Nishitokyo.
(Children in the third grade of elementary
school or under must be accompanied by a parent.)

Planetarium: “Starry Skies of the Antarctic”

Participants are able to view starry skies on the planetarium’s large screen and hear an explanation of constellations in the Southern Hemisphere that cannot be seen from Japan.
Date/time: Until Sunday, July 2; 15:50–16:35; also shown on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons, 13:10–13:55 (Different content will be shown in the session from 13:10 on Wednesday, June 28.)
Place: Tamarokuto Science Center
Eligibility: Anyone
Capacity: 234 persons (chosen in order of entry)
Fee: 1,040 yen for adults; 420 yen for children aged four years to senior high school students (For admission ticket enabling both viewing of exhibition rooms and one planetarium show. Tickets can be purchased at the Tamarokuto Science Center from 09:30 on the day.)
*The center is closed on June 5, 12, 19, and 26 (Mondays).

The Hotto Room is a place where children can consult about anything that is troubling or worrying them or when they don’t know who to go to for advice. Confidentiality is guaranteed. As long as it is about children, adults can seek advice here too.

□Consultation times: 14:00–20:00 on weekdays; 10:00–16:00 on Saturdays; closed on Sundays, national holidays, and New Year’s holidays
